Hi Rivs,

Anyone got a burrito wrap they could part with? The one from BITD that was just a piece of cloth. Please PM me if you've got ah extra.

Seems a little silly to post looking for a piece of cloth, but it would be handy.

Uhhhh, Go to Cost Plus Pier One Crate & Barrel Ikea and buy a few large cheap cotton/linen napkins?
Cheers!

The original wrap was very tightly woven waxed cotton canvas, and even the later "model" was heavy duty canvas. This makes it easier to wrap, as well as more durable. But I agree that a trip to a fabric store ought to scare up something.

FWIW, I've sewed wrapping canvas into little, tubular bags that are easier to keep tools from falling about and to strap to the rails (at least, I find them so). In fact, the last little bit of the original wrap that I have is now a little tubular bag for my large, steel pizza cutter, to keep the edge from dulling in the cluttered utensil drawer. You can make a bigger one for your bike kit.

Aside: I recall Riv's first foray into saddle bags: a small (banana bag size), very crudely (by Sackville standards!) sewn wedge made from burrito wrap or something similar; no buckles or buttons, just tapes. I came across one a few years ago, and I think my brother has it now.

I bought a few heavy canvas squares from the surplus store at UC Davis a few years ago (recycled from mail bags). I can see if I still have any when I get home tonight.

I have one. I have no idea what it costs or what would be a fair price. Message me off list if you are interested.

Cheers!
