Assuming you're asking the general question, "Why go two-speed?", I'll answer for my upcoming Cheviot. I'm going for a simple/light vibe with this bike, so decided to add "just enough gears" to Grant's "just ride" motto. The idea is to have a big-ring ratio for most rides, with the the ability to kick the chain over to the granny for a steep hill. I'm duplicating the setup on Will @ Riv's Cheviot - this was his suggestion when I ordered the frame - and expect I'll use it the way he does, he's never shifted it. The idea is that you get to that hill in the big gear, then ask yourself if you really need to move the chain or just stand up and muscle through it. That decision will come easier to Igor 'cause he kept the front derailer, but I'm intentionally leaving it off so I won't bail too soon. It's going to be fun!
