I am wondering if anyone has tried the Crust Leather drop handlebar. At 666mm, it is very spacious. Silly wide?

Thanks all,

Clayton (Bend)

I popped in to Rivendell HQ a few weeks ago while on vacation. While I was there, a rangy gent rolled up on 58cm Hunq. It had a stupendously wide bar on it. After a quick chat with the rangy gent, Will hopped on the Hunq and disappeared for a few minutes. He came back later with a big smile on his face. I asked how large the bar was, and was told 66.6.

It looked awesome as hell, and the owner said he loved it. It completely suited the Hunq.

too wide for me. I'm a skinny 5'10", and found the drops uncomfortable. The tops are fine, but I like descending in the drops, especially on techy off-road routes. I'm used to 720+ mountain bike bars, so I dont think it was the pure width as much as it was the position of my wrists. I also only rode these on the street for a few blocks, didn't get too wild.

Too extreme for me. Thanks to all!  I'm always on the hunt for the perfect drop bar.  I won't buy this one...

I rode with the Crust bars for a couple of weeks.

Pro's: great leverage, especially when climbing out of the saddle; endless hand positions; slight flex for shock absorption; good conversation starters.

Con's: Not great if you ride on the hoods; felt too close for comfort when riding in traffic or along parked cars; not great for brifter levers; hard to ride in the drops without feeling like you're kissing the stem; hard to get in / out of my house and other tight spaces; requires extra bar tape.

I'm 6'2" / 200lbs and normally ride 48mm Noodles. These 66.6mm bars were just too wide for me.
