I listed my Quickbeam in SF Bay Area Craigslist:

I would like to sell it locally, but will consider shipping if it doesn't sell in a week or two.

I _think_ it's too big for me. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway. The fact that my Clem is irritating to carry on the train and the Quickbeam would make a great commuter shouldn't affect that, right?

...right?

This was Mojo's old bike he used on the Big Fix Ride, so you can say it has good mojo :-)  I probably put about 8,000 miles on it commuting the last two years. Just time to try something else, I hope I won't regret selling it...

What is the saddle height on your setup?

I hope you don't either...that's an awfully nice bike with all those upgrades at a terrific price...too bad (or good) that I ride a 56cm frame...and have a riv on the way from MN

If your only reason for selling a Quickbeam is "Just time to try something else," you'll regret it. But you'll also make someone else's rides fantastic! Grin.

With abandon,
Patrick

72cm

OK, it's not the only reason. I think the Quickbeam is a little overbuilt for me at 136 lbs. While the ride is very comfortable, it doesn't beg to be pedaled harder. I notice it when I commute on my Landshark, which always feels like there is tailwind. I swapped the wheels, still the same.

Ahhhh! Well, there ya go! I'm 200, and absolutely love the flex and power and my 66cm QB planes for me wondrously (I noticed the absence of planing today switching back to my Hunqapillar after 3+ weeks of QB only).

With abandon,
Patrick

Anyone from the Bay area planning a trip to Israel and willing to do a good deed for a fellow list member?
This is the perfect bike for me.
I would obviously cover all costs and buy you a very large beer.

Bay Area peeps, please buy this so I don't have to pack and ship! $100 discount for local pickup.

I might be interested if you would be willing to get this boxed and ship to the East Coast.
Bikeflights estimates $60 shipping for a road bike.

A few questions about the build:
- Age / condition of the various components
- Crank length and BCD
- Is the 18 tooth cog fixed or free? I should be able to use any brand freewheel on the free side, right?
- Which Phil hubs are those?
- What brakes, bar, stem?

Looks like a nice bike. I have been running my Sam Hillborne as a psuedo-Quickbeam using an Eno hub. I'm curious to try the real thing.

FYI, I recently shipped a bike via Amtrak with great results. Amtrak sells their own bike box for about $15, and because it’s oversized all that’s necessary is to take off the pedals and turn the handlebars. The bike then just rolls in (I added foam padding when I shipped the bike), which makes it much easier to pack.

I shipped a bike this way from California to Syracuse, NY, for $84 including insurance, and it arrived in about three days. Amtrak will ship to any of their stations and then hold it there free for several days and $3 per day thereafter.

If you have the time and are OK with disassembling the bike, BikeFlights or other similar options is a great choice. For those of us who have bikes with racks, fenders, etc., that are a little more difficult to take apart, Amtrak is worth looking into.
