I'm making my first "Biketinker" patches, with Walter at Falls Creek Outfitters. He's going to tweak that R, and they'll be ready to ship in a couple weeks. If you'd like to get a couple, they're $5 each over on my Etsy shop.

These first ones are a Sheldon tribute, since he started a lot more people than me down the path of wrenching on bikes, make mistakes, and sometimes create new things. He was a true originator, and even today, if you need esoteric bike information, "Ask And Sheldon Has The Answer."

Many thanks!
Philip

Nicely done.  Thanks for your efforts on this & other patches.  I'll have to get a couple headed my way.

Nice job, Phil! I just pre-ordered mine.

Today is shaping up to be a day of "bike club" gear! ;-)

Looks great! That's a union I might actually consider joining. Grin. As a marketing idea, have you let Harris Cyclery know?

The Union assumes you've already paid your dues, membership is self-certifying, you can leave any time you like, and the Union recognizes and respects Tinkers of any (or no) affiliation.

JOIN ALL THE CLUBS!

I see you are right! That's very funny. Three posts in one day. Tarik needs to chime in with a full TSBC kit.

I think I'm in all the clubs, now.

I've been harassing Tarik to get a patch...

Of course, now I have to make a patch as well!

So when do we call a general strike demanding the reinstating of rim brake mounts on new frames and quality replacement parts for 5 and 6 speed gear systems?

Does Etsy require you to create an account, because I am interested, but I don't want to "join" anymore sites. Especially one I might have no further use for?

Fabulous, Philip!  Just put in my order.  I always get three:  one for me, one for Erin, and one for spare so that I don't fret about where to put mine and then come across another bag that needs it.  Really nice nod to sheldon. -rcw

I don't think Etsy does make you create an account. I should try it out, though.

You can check out with PayPal, or contact me off list. I took some cash envelopes for the Entmoot patches, and that worked out okay.

I'm sorry - no more Entmoot patches.
I'm looking at one on my cube wall, but it's the last one I've got. If I made another run, I'd change the artwork. More bikes, less boat.

If people are interested, chime in. I've got the patch bug pretty bad.

Biketinkers Patch - UPDATE - I'm mailing out the patches today. I was very excited to get the Big Envelope today, and extra-pleased that Walter included a couple of the Snow Viking patches I drew for him.

I pre-addressed all the envelopes over the last several evenings, so you should get your shipping notices soon.
Thanks for joining up! I'm queuing up some Dropkick Murphys union songs for the packing operation. :^)

Great news, Philip! Ever hear of The Thinking Feller's Union? I saw them at The Independent in SF way back in the early '90s. Music to do good work by.

Brilliant looking patch. Mine is just waiting for my non-unionized sewing minions to stitch it on my shop apron. Of course they belong to the BTU officially now as they know how to do basic maintenance on their bikes and assisted with their final assembly out the box. Grin.

Phillip,
do you have any patches still unaccounted for? I'd like a pair of them but also don't have, or want, an Etsy account. Paypal OK

Any chance to do a transaction through the list or email?

Thanks,

Well, Philip thanks for the patches. They are well done and one will find a home on a new Stuinniker bag soon. I just wanted to say great job and your efforts are appreciated. Good colors too. I gave one to my son, who is the mechanic for Giant Bicycles on their world enduro team (might make it to his tool roll), and two went to friends that have a bike shop in town, Livingston cycles at Bend Velo. I feel like I have something precious....lol.

Thanks again,

Hey Philip:

The patches are GREAT!!! And my partners sister-in-law makes aprons, dresses, etc. and was open to making me a custom apron. Maybe we should think up some specs on what should go into a RBW-worthy apron and see if she can do a run. No two alike!

Finally got my Biketinkers Union patch in place this weekend. I picked up this previously well-loved Baggins bag at a swap a few months back - it had a rip above the original leather patch that was sewn on that I initially clumsily patched with a bit of hot glue and spare leather. I found the Biketinkers patch to be a slightly larger diameter than the original leather patch so I took out my trusty pocketknife, removed the leather patch and glued/ironed this one in place. Love it!
