My question is just that - are there any plans to bring RAxML to the Xeon Phi? I know ExaML has been succesfully ported and people are using it, but what about the normal program, with all it's functions and capabilities? We recently got one in my Insitution and are currently exploring how useful it is, so I'm doing some testing about that. Thanks!

Cheers,
-Jacek

hi jacek,

same reply as before unfortunately: we are too busy with the raxml
re-design, but eventually the new RAxML will support the PHI at some
point ...

Hi Jacek,

as soon as I can get my hands on the new KNL Phi, I'll definitely try porting the kernels (which are now nicely
separated in a general-purpose phylogenetic library).

However, as Alexis pointed out, this will be only available in the nextgen RAxML, which will appear in some time, and
probably won't offer all numerous RAxML features at the beginning.

Thanks for the quick replies Alexis and Alexey! Glad to hear that plans are there to support the Phi natively in the nextgen RAxML, I'll stay tuned.

Best,
-Jacek
