I'm trying to compile RAxML on my Mac Book Pro (i7 3.1Ghz, i7-5557U), but I get errors when I try to compile the AVX-PTHREADS or AVX2-PTHREADS versions:

make: *** [fastDNAparsimony.o] Error 1

I was able to successfully compile the SSE3 version, but would prefer the AVX2.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Pepijn

have you tried compiling with the dedicated .mac Makefiles that use
clang instead of gcc?

Worked like a charm! Thanks for the quick reply. Any idea why the .gcc is not working? Could it be the GCC version?

it's a bit fuzzy, but there are lots of discussions on stackoverflow, e.g.,

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14586258/gcc-doesnt-want-to-use-avx-on-mac

I didn't have the time to look at it into detail, but it would be great
if you could post a solution if you find one on here,
