Simple push service every second

Hello,

i need to create a websocket that pushes a JSON object every second to the connected clients.

Based on some database / cache values, i'm currently polling via AJAX, which is not best practice.

Instead i want to open a websocket and receive a JSON object each second. Also, when multiple clients are connected, i need to re-use the existing database / cache connection.

Which approach would be the best?
