Good Evening,

I am brand new to Ratchet and to webs sockets.  I have done the first part of the tutorial and have it working fine.


My main app is running on a traditional LAMP server hosted by GODADDY.  I have a virtual server that holds my database server.  I want to put my Websocket server on the same Virtual server.

The only purpose of my websocket server is to update 3 or 4 pages (concurrent users) when a change is made to the database.  I believe this is called pushing the data.  I don't need the clients to report back to me.

What I would like to know is:
1 what is the best way to secure the socket server from attack.
2 Do I need all of the other software mentioned in the later tutorials.  I know 0 about 0mg and the other software.

What I would like to do is put my Ratchet Sever on a different virtual server and have my LAMP server send a message to my clients whenever a change happens
