How this all works

Hi All,

I just wanted to understand the working of these servers (eg websocket server). How they work? It seems like it's just one process doing all the work. If I am wrong please let me know. Would that not limit the number of concurrent connections it may have. Please pardon me if I am asking a lame question. I am planning to put this into a production environment and its very important for me to know this.
