We're constantly running over our 1GB free disk space on our QSApp.com hosting, and (along with Rob) we're having to regularly gzip, download and then remove crash reports uploaded to the server. We need to come up with a better solution. Etienne recently mentioned us storing generated dSYMs on the server, so I thought I'd start this long-needed discussion.

A quick overview of file sizes:

27M Crash Reports
173M Plugins/Quicksilver .dmgs
102M Wiki files
204M Test Wiki database
285M Wiki database
52M Awstats

Usage: 885MB out of 1000MB (it was 995MB until I just deleted some junk)

I've already deleted the test wiki files, and I can go ahead and backup (to the QSApp.com GH repo) and remove the test wiki db file…but does everybody want that huge extra baggage on their computers (not sure how big it will be zipped).

The wiki all together is taking up almost 400MB. That's ridiculous. If there's anybody who's familiar with why mediawiki is so bloated then that'd be good ;-)
Finally - do we need all the uploaded plugins/Quicksilver .dmgs? Of course they're nice to have, but we could delete most of them from the server.

Oh, and I can remove the awstats stuff right - nobody using it? We have gAnalytics if anybody needs to look

Regarding the wiki, I doubt that the uploads of complied AppleScript files is helping with that. As convenient as that is, it isn't nearly so space efficient as simply posting the code as text.

Otherwise, I wonder whether another host might be in order. I don't know all of what the needs are for qsapp.com, but perhaps an account on x10hosting.com might work. They offer unlimited bandwidth and disk space, and will certainly support the wiki (since they offer an easy install script for it). I'm not sure how the crash reports work in terms of web host requirements, so this may not work out for that part. But at any rate, you can check them out. The only thing is that someone needs to log in to the control panel once per month to keep a free account active, but that is easily automated with a bit of bash and curl. (I'll give you a copy of my script that I already wrote, if you like). They also offer paid hosting at x10premium.com ($3.95/month).
