qubes vm manager fails to add iso as additional drive outside /var/lib/qubes

Subj, if I use qubes vm manager gui and in advanced settings for "HVM
template" VM use 'addittional drive', backing domain dom0 and path
outside of VM template folder, then the path is silently disappeared
from VM sesttings - I see it after I open settings again, after
pressing 'OK'. I used path starting from another partition mount
point. Though if I make a simlink inside VM template dir to the real
path outside - the path is stored in settings.

This is definitely a bug: if the path to additional drive is required
to be inside the VM template directory, then on wrong path entered -
it should not disappear silently, but should display a descriptive
error.
