Should qubes-gui-agent have a Gnome dependency?

I'm currently trialling KDE for guest templates and would like to remove
the unused Gnome desktop environment occupying over 500MB of disk space.

If I try 'apt-get remove gnome*' however, it wants to remove
qubes-gui-agent, qubes-vm-dependencies and qubes-vm-recommended. The
latter two appear to be stubs, but the first shouldn't be (reasonably)
removed.

This makes me wonder whether there is room for making the DE components
interchangeable with respect to the qubes-* packages. Perhaps move some
of the dependencies to another package named qubes-vm-desktop-gnome and
a similar package for KDE?

It looks like Debian version of qubes-gui-agent depends on
gnome-keyring, but Fedora one does not. Looks like some stuff not
cleaned up.
