Denton Interpolation

Rather than the sum disaggregation approach in denton interpolation fn in statsmodels, is there a way to do an average disaggregation (ta=2 option) as 

mentioned in denton_uni matlab function here:

I never looked at denton or any other time series disaggregation methods.

Given that the matlab fileexchange code is BSD licensed, it would be possible to translate those functions into python.
