In insurance applications that I was reading recently, one of the requirements on the algorithms was that you can "sell" them to the regulators, and you need to show that it only does permitted kinds of discrimination.


E.g. try to get health insurance in a private market with a pre-existing condition. Add detection based on genetic screening after your baby is born.
(Application denied. The neural network predicts that your family is much too expensive.)
