Hi everyone,

I am interested in the proposed project idea "Implement O(N) Method" and would like to have a look into literature or papers to get an overview about the topic, to see if it is doable for me in three months of time. @moorepants: It would be great if you could hint me to some links or other references.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Max

The Jain textbook and the Featherstone book are really the best resources out there. By far the best tools for implementing it yourself will be other open source implementations; see RBDL for C++ and Featherstone's own website for MATLAB.

Hi Sahil and Christopher,

Jason mentioned some references here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/pydy/ivnekDK6ilA

Thanks for your replies. I had a look through the relevant chapters of the books, and RBDL and Featherstone's websites.
This topic seems very interesting, and apparently it is of much interest to you/PyDy developers. Though it is a very complex one, and I don't think this is definitively implementable by me in three months of time, so I'll rather do another, less heavy project.
Maybe I'll come back to this project later, not related to GSoC, when there's as much time as you need. :)

Regards,
Max

Max,

We'll help you through it regardless. It just depends on your motivation. But that topic is one of the harder ones on our lists. Feel free to look through the list and see if other ideas look interesting.

Another note: you really just need another implementation to reference while you would write your own; you do not need a thorough understanding of the concepts; even though an understanding of the concepts would help.
