the state of the pickle (in patsy)

Hi All,


been reading release notes that patsy 0.40 ensured exception thrown on pickling and that "Soon we will add real, supported pickling support." 

What is the state of pickle support? 

We really need to figure out how to persist DesignInfo to pass from train to predict stages. Are there known workarounds or other approaches to solve this?
