Dear all,

I am José Jairo, a PhD student working on organic molecules in PNe at IAC (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias). I have taken a course of pycloudy with Christophe at my institute, but I am still a little bit lost. I am trying to generate a cloudy model for PN M 1-60 and reproduce the quotients of H2 observed with LIRIS (we only have 4 lines of H2 in the near-infrared). The main problem is that these lines are located at 2.12, 2.22, 2.25, and 2.41 microns. Does cloudy include these 4 lines? How can I check which lines of H2 are available in pycloudy? Is it possible to adjust the quotients of these 4 lines and use pycloudy to predict the excitation temperature with other lines of H2? I would be grateful if you could help me.

Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
José Jairo

Hi Jose,
Sorry for the delay.
It seems to me that those H2 lines are not in the Cloudy database.
There is a lot of modelular lines from H2O, CO, etc, but not for H2 (from what I can see using the "save line labels " command.
You may have a more complete answer on the Cloudy itself discussion group:

Cheers,
Christophe
