historical data for countries that do not exist anymore

Hi!

I'm looking for historical data for countries that split due to various reasons. These data should be still valid for countries like Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, USSR, etc... 

Any idea why these countries are not present anymore (for example no GDP PPP for 1980 - 1985)

Hopefully we can also have them on Google Public Data Explorer...
