very good sujit
california can be serious about public transit and we in india where it is a dire necessity , cant think like that.
today morning Mr Munjal the industrialist who built Hero two wheeler empire- said that automobiles is the most imp industry for the indian economy (sic) for job creation
which is technically correct . He said followed by automobiles, tourism, housing , textiles are other important job creating industries
I wonder if we built high quality low cost rly coaches ( two tier ones e.g. ) and buses under rs. 40 lakhs - ac and 40 seater and with 5km+ avg
and 16-20 seater - slightly narrow and shorter no conductor buses ac or non ac within a price range of rs. 20 laks can be a good substitute for cars and of course , high quality . light weight bicycles ( incl power assist variety which need to be pedalled but assisted by a tiny motor in case of climb and where the speed never exceed beyond 15km to 20 km
and low cost high quality housing where slum dwellers can themselves participatte by learning the construction skills using non conventional materials
can creat jobs too
it is time that we consider what are city/country and nature friendly jobs and what are jobs that are anti nature and anti people - ( pl dont misunderstand I am not a spoiler of fun and happiness but woiuld like the same for most if not all. people
