21st October 2014

Lokayat, (opp Nirmitee, near Nal Stop), Law College Road, Pune
Our streets can be great places again for street vendors, pedestrians and cyclists.
The Street Vendors Act, 2014, when implemented well has the potential to improve the livelihood conditions of millions of street vendors in India. It can also, in conjunction with the National Urban Transport Policy, 2006, drive street designs that provide equitable allocation of road space for pedestrians, cyclists and vendors.
Shri Sanjay Shanke, Janeev Sanghatana, Pune, has played a key role in the passage of the Street Vendors Act, 2014. He would make a presentation about the Street Vendors Act, its background and what it hopes to change, challenges ahead, and steps being taken for proper implementation.
Following Mr Sankhe’s presentation, we would brainstorm ideas for building support towards converting the potential of the SV Act and the NUTP into a reality of inclusive, well-designed, vibrant streets in Pune.
