Outward Bound School
*a 3-credit exercise and sport activity course*

Fall Semester 1998 or Spring Semester 1999

Outward Bound is a worldwide recognized leader in the field of
experiential learning. The Hurricane Island school is noted for its
sailing adventures in Maine, Baltimore, and the Florida Keys. Outward
Bound gives the student a chance to develop leadership and teamwork
skills, self-confidence, and quality training in sailing.

This course will combine classroom lectures and skill sessions with an
off-site five-day sailing experience in the Florida Keys. Each classroom
session will be approximately three hours long, and problem sets and
worksheets will be assigned.

Topics for the lectures are:

… basic nomenclature and sail theory
… coastal navigation
… seamanship skills
… cruising logistics

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Because of the nature of the program and the commitment we make to the
Outward Bound School, the registration deadlines are as follows:
Fall Sail‹November 3, 1998
Spring Sail‹January 20, 1999
