I was away last week and when I got back on Monday, I noticed that some recurring events where missing from at least one of my calendars. I can see those events if I view the calendar at calendar.google.com.

When the affected calendar is syncing, says it is syncing XXX of 1000 and then may restart at 0 and/or temporarily freeze. I have a pretty fast computer and Thunderbird always unfreezes and is usable again but from searching, it looks like others are having more severe problems and their computers need to be rebooted.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 with all updates, Thunderbird 31.7.0 and Provider 1.0.4.

I'll paste a couple of errors from the Tbird logs in case they are useful:

I'd be happy to provide you with any more information that may be helpful to solve this issue.

These errors do not look fatal to me. Note that with a lot of events, the first synchronization takes a long time. The XXX of 1000 thing is a bit lazy to be honest. It downloads events in batches of 1000, when one batch is done it starts another and hence starts again at 0 of 1000. I'm thinking of applying a fix to this for 1.0.5 that makes it jump from 999/1000 to 1000/1000 to 1001/2000 to make it less confusing.

Please let it sit for a long while until it cools down, after that synchronizations should be fast because they are incremental.

Thanks for getting back, Philipp.

Even if I let the calendar sit for an hour, only some of the events are visible. The XXX/1000 finishes after some time but events are still missing.

I deleted and re-added the calendar and the issue seems to have disappeared. I did try this before with no effect. I'm not sure what's different now. Perhaps a local glitch? Close this ticket, I guess. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if the symptoms appear in the future. Sorry to bother you.

I guess it might have been in some weird limbo state where some events are not synchronized but it thinks that everything is done. I'm glad re-adding the calendar works!

Phillip,

I too have had this problem with one calendar.  As Ron wrote "When the affected calendar is syncing, says it is syncing XXX of 1000 and then may restart at 0 and/or temporarily freeze. I have a pretty fast computer and Thunderbird always unfreezes" but then, after repeatedly restarting the count, the syncing comes to a point 8xx of 8yy and stops, and if I try clicking on anything, even to go to the email tab, the screen goes opaque, "Not responding" and finally T'bird crashes.  I have rebooted, reinstalled, and resubscribed, and all other calendars sync, but not that one.  I have been unable to get an error report because of the crashing, and finally, since I can view that calendar on both my cell and on the computer via google, com, I unsubscribed from it and everything works fine.  It is my wife's work calendar, a read only so I don't need to interact with it, and can deal with it when necessary.  I just thought you would like to know someone else was having problems like Ron.

Hi, all.

Thanks for this thread.  Here is my error:

Timestamp: 08/28/2015 11:20:18 AM
Error: [calCachedCalendar] replay action failed: null, uri=https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/hourback%40gmail.com/hourback%40gmail.com, result=2147500037, op=[xpconnect wrapped calIOperation]

Line: 322

I set up this calendar using CalDAV and it seemed to work okay.  I'm seeing all of my events that I've looked for.  Using the provider, though, I am still unable to completely sync my calendar.  It seems like it's stopping in the same place.  I've left it running for forty-five minutes (at least), unsubscribed & subscribed, exited Thunderbird, manually synced . . . I think that's all I've tried.

I'll keep waiting and see if it does anything else.

Anything else I can try?

-Ali

I have the same problem.
Thunderbird stuck in a Loop (100% cpu -- Virtual memory now more than 11Gb.... that could be the problem!!!) -- Fortunately i run on a MultiCore --  Saying "...event 987-100" -- no way to see the console.... I'll let it run all the night to see if it crash or finish

Dear Luca,

Did you have any luck solving it? There is another thread with the same error in this group and we have let our calendars sync now for months...and still not ready. The sync just restarts over and over again. Deletoing and Re-adding Calendars also doesn't work (at least not the first 20 times I tried).

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Jeroen
