Hey, PCG folks.

I know there's been a lot of deadlines recently, but I have some exciting news for you: the International Conference on Computational Creativity is hosting its first workshop, and it's about games! It's a great opportunity to get involved in ICCC, discuss the future of games and computational creativity, and mix up two wonderful communities of people. We also have some surprises in store for the workshop itself!

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
------------------

The 1st Workshop on Computational Creativity and Games (CCGW 2015) is
organized in conjunction with the International Conference on
Computational Creativity 2015. The workshop will take place on June 28th
in Park City, Utah, shortly before the main conference.

Games present a great avenue for research in the field of Computational
Creativity. Many of the steps involve creative processes from both the
designer, users, and the computational system itself. From conception,
to design, to implementation, and to expression, there are many ways by
which computational creativity plays a part. This workshop aims to bring
together researchers from a variety of disciplines across both games and
Computational Creativity research, and explore new ideas for the two
fields to exchange ideas and explore new avenues.

CCG will be a one-day workshop with a series of short sessions. Each
session will consist of 3-4 paper presentations, each followed by Q&A.
We will be broadcasting the workshop live online (with speaker
permission), and archiving videos of talks for after the event as well.

WORKSHOP TOPICS
------------------

Papers may cover a variety of topics related to computational creativity
and games including, but not limited to, the following:

Autonomous game design and/or evaluation
Automatic evaluation of game content
Assistive game design tools for professional and amateur development
Computational creativity in non-developer communities (e.g. modding)
Computational creativity and procedural content generation
Cultural issues relating to generative software and games or game design
Reports of computationally creative software working in the domain of
games (or related domains)

SUBMISSION
------------------

We welcome submissions of full papers (4-6 pages) for oral presentation.
We also welcome demonstration papers (2 pages) on systems in
development. You may anonymise your paper if you wish, but you are not
required to.

Hi everyone,

I'd like to add some more variables to the mix of your paper-writing plans. We are happy to announce that the Foundations of Digital Games 2015 will see the 6th iteration of the Procedural Content Generation workshop take place. The workshop will be held (along with FDG) at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove (California) on June 22 - 25. We have a great program committee lined up and are looking forward to yet another year of interesting contributions and discussions on the current (and future) state of the field of PCG.

We invite contributions on all aspects of generating game content, using any method. Both descriptions of new algorithms and empirical studies of implementations and applications are welcome. We welcome full papers describing novel research (8 pages) or short papers describing work in progress (4 pages). The deadline for paper submissions is 20 April 2015.

PCG 2015 CALL FOR PAPERS

Generating game content via algorithmic processes has gathered substantial academic interest in recent years. Procedural content generation (PCG) offers hope for substantially reducing the authorial burden within games, improving our theoretical understanding of game design, and enabling entirely new kinds of games and playable experiences. The goal of this workshop is to advance knowledge in PCG by bringing together researchers and fostering discussion about the current state of the field.

We welcome submissions as either full papers describing novel research (8 pages) or short papers describing work in progress (4 pages). Due to a tight review schedule, papers over 8 pages may be rejected without review. The review process will be single-blind.

Papers may cover a variety of topics within procedural content generation, including but not limited to:

* Offline or realtime procedural generation of levels, stories, quests, terrain, environments, and other game content.
* Case studies of industrial application of procedural generation.
* Issues in the construction of mixed-mode systems with both human and procedurally generated content.
* Adaptive games using procedural content generation.
* Procedural generation of game rulesets (computer or tabletop).
* Techniques for procedural animation.
* Issues in combining multiple procedural content generation techniques for larger systems.
* Procedural content generation in non-digital games.
* Procedural content generation as a game mechanic.
* Automatic game balancing through generated content.
* Techniques for games that evolve and/or discover new game variants.
* Player and/or designer experience in procedural content generation.
* Procedural content generation during development (e.g. prototyping, playtesting, etc.)
* Theoretical implications of procedural content generation.
* How to incorporate procedural generation meaningfully into game design.
* Lessons from historical examples of procedural content generation (including post-mortems).

Hi everyone,

The Procedural Content Generation workshop (taking place along the Foundations of Digital Games conference during 22-25 June 2015) invites everyone to submit their work in progress or concrete findings on PCG at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pcg2015 . The call for papers is included below, but more information can also be found at http://pcg.fdg2015.org/ .

What we'd like to note is that registration for FDG is open at http://fdg2015.org/  and that the early bird registrations (350$, 200$ for students) end at 19 April 2015. The deadline for paper submissions to the PCG workshop is 20 April 2015 and our expected notification date is 15 May 2015. That means that if you submit to the PCG workshop and would like to know for certain if you will be presenting your work there, the early bird registration will not be feasible. The normal registration is 425$ and 275$ for students. Unfortunately, we can not push the early-bird registration of FDG for a month (to cater for PCG workshop acceptance notification) nor can we speed up our review and submission process. If you are certain that you would like to attend the FDG conference and the PCG workshop in particular, we advise that you register for the early bird discount.

Just a quick update to let you know that our submission deadline is less than two weeks away! I'm also excited to announce that Emily Short will be keynoting the main conference this year, which is super exciting. The submission deadline for the Procedural Content Generation workshop is approaching fast, so we decided to postpone it a bit in order to ensure that everyone has had a chance to submit their best PCG work there! The new submission deadline is 27 April 2015. We welcome both work in progress, as short papers (4 pages), and more mature work as long papers (8 pages). Please note that the early bird registration for the Foundations of Digital Games 2015 conference (of which the workshop is part) is 19 April, so if you would definitely like to attend the workshop and the conference in general you should take advantage of the discounted price (350$ versus 425$ and 200$ versus 275$ for students).
