Replicating to a local CouchDB database throws a 404 error

When I try to set a replication to a remote server, the following error is thrown:

GET http://localhost:5984/p_test/_local/7e20f4e9afcd43b18e4ab9405c7a0aa0 404 (Object Not Found)

Have I not set up my databases properly? Why would this error be throw?

There is an open bug to document the fact that that isnt an error, its expected behaviour, we are just looking for a checkpoint which doesnt yet exist (and we write it subsequently)
