Hey Steve,

Just a thought.. I like most others use your MP3 version of SN as a
rule. However based on your recommendation this last ep you said to
see it.

However... it does not always even play cleanly (depending on the
config etc).. and it is the same as the annoying CTV format.. which
download helper does not work on. This should be changed IMO.. since
it only annoys ppl and does not stop all downloading of the video. I
bypassed that issue in very short order of course.. but ultimately..
the q is why make it harder for ppl to dl it? it's not like we are
rebroadcasting with the commercials etc removed :)

Kindanyume,

NONE of that is in my hands, nor under my control.  That's all Leo & Co.

But, that said, I don't know what you mean about it being in an "annoying CTV format"??  It is in the industry standard h.264 compression, .mp4 file container format.  Frankly... if that's a problem for you, the problem is at your end, not at Leo's end.

Also... the video was quickly moved up to YouTUBE where you might have more success with it.

Ah./.. Ok well then time to dig up Leo's email then. :)

CTV = Canadian TV station.. using much the same embedding for their
online access. It is not about the codec used or the container which
are very easy to deal with. it's only the embedding method.
(Remember I do work in IT for many yrs though not as long as you as
I've said before.)

The issue is the embedded redirect setup for the flash player. Easily
enough bypassed for those that know how but for those that do not it
could be annoying.

As for youtube copy.. I did not know.. but now I do and that almost
always works w/the same dl method as is 'standard" so that is a good
thing for many others.

Oh and I'm currently dying of laughter at your "the aliens use this
for IBM compatibility" etc.. absolutely priceless IMO

As always.. very entertaining and informative for those that don't
know the detailed inner workings etc. My hat's off to you once again
(and I have not even finished the latest ep yet)

Hope you have had good holidays (of whatever type you have). and
don't get too hungover for NY lol

Ah./..  Ok well then time to dig up Leo's email then. :)

As they say... "Good luck with that."  I imagine that whatever Leo has done, he's done it for a reason.

I never attempt to watch embedded, though.  I always download the .mp4 file, then watch it with the VLC (VideoLAN) player.

Thanks... and... there's more coming if you're still watching.  :)

You know me... I'll be working right through it and glad once it's past.  :)

/Steve.

Actually in this case I suspect it was not Leo directly.. (unless he
does all of the coding for Twit's site etc).. but rather a choice put
in place by whomever was placed in to do webmastering work. (Quick
scan of the code makes it look like either a c&p M$ or Adobe script
actually.. but that is only a quick look)

1st time for me to watch the video actually... the 64k MP3 is all I've
used for yrs.. esp since I can do work at the same time as learning
things from you :)

btw Steve,

This reminds me of something I did yrs ago.. and a good friend here
(in St. Catherine's whom also wants to test the PDK). Quite some
time before you recorded this video and long before we knew each
other. We both in the early 80's managed to hook old MFM hdds to our
C64's. Using 2 diff methods.

My method was to in effect screwed over the RS232 port to make the
drive appear as a giant high speed tape.. and he used the controller
from the 1751 drive to "fake" the HDD being a pile of floppy's. Both
worked in the end.. but once again the mother of invention is need and
a good dose of luck.

Ahh.. the old days eh? :)

(I'm now emailing my friend the link for this ep.. I'm sure he will
enjoy as I am)
