Steve,
You mentioned that you want to build a number of units for field beta testing. Could I volunteer to help you with that task. I'm down in San Diego. But if you plan to do this one weekend soon, I'll be glad to come up and give you hand. Hell, I'll even order pizza for the project. I think it would be a valuable experience for me getting practice on assembly and testing of components.

I work as a senior level software engineer (mostly assembler!). But it would be fun to put together a hardware project like this. I wish I could tell you that I am an experienced electrical assembler, but I not. What I lack in experience is made up for in enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Let me know what you need.
Ron

Hi Ron.

Thanks for your thoughtful offer.  But I already have a collection of local friends who are all over me to let them help.  And... well... too many hands would probably impede progress rather than help it.  And also, given that it looks like I'll be making about 100 of the beta-test units, I will be working to automate as much of it as possible.

But all that said... if I can use someone's help I'll definitely let you know.  (But also note that it's looking like early next year since I only want to do it once, and to do it right.)

Hey... THAT's cool!!  :)   A man after my own heart!

/Steve.

Hello Friends,

I've been following Steve on this project for sometime now and really want to construct a unit of my own for testing locally.  We have so much problems with strayed dogs in the streets all over the country (Thailand).  If a "FUNCTIONAL and EFFECTIVE" device could be built to deter dogs from attacking people and to quiet them down when it becomes too annoying, it would do "A WHOLE LOT OF GOOD" to all the people suffering.  Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find proper parts for the devices.  What I have found so far, I'm not able to make them work properly.  I'm thinking may be my parts are not the right ones since I'm just a beginner but I'm pretty sure that I connected the parts correctly according to the V2.2.2 diagram.  Could any one please look at the photos of the parts I have and let me know if I DO have the right parts.  This would help me to determine what I need to do to get the circiut to work (i.e. new parts, new connections, etc.)  I really hope we will be successful in this endeavor and all become HEROS (especially you, Mr. Steve Gibson)  for saving the people of the world from grieve and pain.

Truly Appreciate All The Help,

Paul Metha
