Polymer per element shadow or normal / shady DOM

With Safari getting closer to implementing native shadow DOM, Polymer will probably soon move off using shady DOM as default and instead go to use shadow DOM as default. That's great, but I was wondering if Polymer has any plans to allow a component to declare whether it wants to use the shadow DOM or not.

When you create a native Custom Element, you can choose whether or not to use Shadow DOM for your element. In most cases, shadow DOM is recommended but there are instances when choosing not to use it is acceptable. Will Polymer ever allow the component to declare if it shouldn't use the shadow DOM (since default would be shadow) and just to use native DOM instead?
