Starting from CI-790, the format used to encrypt passwords in settings files has changed. In the past, it was a very weak encryption and this newer format is very strong (AES algorithm). This means that once you store a password using CI-790 (and above), no older version of Polarbar will be able to read those passwords. Older versions of Polarbar will not recognize the newer format and will wind up with password errors if used with settings stored in CI-790 (or above) format.

So if you use CI-790 (or above) and have the need to rollback, you'll have to re-enter all passwords to make sure they are saved in the older format. Do this before any mail services (send/receive) start as even the server settings password formats are strongly encrypted now.

As an aside, CI-790 should be fairly stable and has a severe memory leak fix that was caused whenever account switches occur. The more switches, the more memory was leaked. If you never switched accounts, the memory leak fix won't impact you.

I've reconsidered this and now have an option setting that allows selecting this password option. The default is obviously the older, weaker algorithm.
