Wow, this could be a great connection for the ongoing Oil Testing Kit work! Anyone want to chat with them about our efforts?

Hi All,
Please save the date for this great event hosted by Newtown Creek Alliance one week from today Monday June 29th at 6:30pm:

Please join NCA and Randall Austin from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation for an engaging and informative workshop on oil spills. Mr. Austin heads the DEC’s Spill Response Program that actively investigates and brings enforcement to petroleum and chemical spills cases in NY Harbor. The workshop will begin promptly at 6:30 and we strongly encourage participants to attend the full presentation. Whether you are an active user of the waterway or enjoy it from the shore is it very important for community members to be able to recognize various pollution types and properly report spills or unusual occurrences when they occur.

This event will be held at the DEC office in Long Island City:
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
47-40 21 Street
Long Island City, New York 11101

June 29th, 6:30 pm

What oil samples should I bring? I don't have any crude oil samples, but can go get some types of motor oil and gasoline.
