Monday, April 6, 2015 at 10am PDT / 1pm EST / 5pm GMT

As part of celebrating Public Lab's 5th Anniversary, we will have a roundtable discussion on peer-to-peer learning. We will start off by telling stories of times when we exchanged concepts, skills, and attitudes, and then move on to tackle topics like expertise, jargon, the role of social bonds (online and offline), and the type of resources that support learning. Cindy Regalado, Beryl Thurman, Chris Fastie, and Ned Horning will be joining us, and there's room for a few more presenters. We're developing some questions on the pad, please add your thoughts also!

Hi everyone, we are having a NanoDays event in Hattiesburg at The University of Southern Mississippi and wanted to get the word out. It is free and open to the public.

Celebrate NanoDays 2015 on Monday March 30, 2015 from 2 - 4 p.m. in Cook Library Room 123. NanoDays at Southern Miss is part of a nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering. The NanoDays event will offer a range of exciting programs that demonstrate the special and unexpected properties found at the nanoscale, examine tools used by nanoscientists, showcase nano materials with spectacular promise, and invite discussion of technology and society as well as a special exploration of nano and children’s literature. The event is free and open to the public

NanoDays is organized by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net), and takes place nationally from March 28 - April 5, 2015. This community-based event is the largest public outreach effort in nanoscale informal science education and involves science museums, research centers, and universities from Puerto Rico to Alaska. At the nanoscale—the scale of atoms and molecules-many common materials exhibit unusual properties. Our ability to manipulate matter at this size enables innovations that weren’t possible before. Nanotechnology is revolutionizing research and development in medicine, computing, new materials, food, energy, and other areas. The NISE Network helps research institutions and the public learn from each other about this emerging field so that together we can make informed decisions.
