I hope you all had a great Mardi Gras! I’m forwarding info on a FEMA-hosted webinar that may be of interest to you. It will provide info on how stormwater projects can be factored into floodplain map updates.
Best,

Subject: Webinar: The Community Role in Map Maintenance - Feb. 27 - Registration now open!
Good afternoon all –
I want to take this opportunity to invite you to a webinar series presented monthly by FEMA Region 6 and our partners.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. CT, The Community Role in Map Maintenance will be presented online during our Virtual Brown Bag Series.
The webinar is free and CECs are offered to attendees. Sign up through EventBrite at https://r6virtualbrownbag.eventbrite.com.
What is “The Community Role in Map Maintenance” webinar about?
If your community is growing, then your floodplains are likely changing. Development and changes to land use and/or stormwater management projects result in the continuous need for map
updates.
During the presentation, we will consider local responsibilities and authorities when it comes to development in your community; understanding expectations as an NFIP participating community; ways to revise the effective map information; answers to questions
around actual project impacts to mapped flood hazards; construction in the floodplain; and tools available to you to maintain your maps.
More resources on flood risk products are available on the RiskMAP6.com website under the Resources and Related Links tab in the Information for Local Officials section.
A complete list of more upcoming online training through the Virtual Brown Bag series is available on the EventBrite link, including more on Base Level Engineering.
Just register separately for each monthly training you would like to attend.
We look forward to learning together with you on the webinar series.
