Dear Gulf Future Family, 

You are invited to join the first of 3 Just Transition People's Movement Assemblies taking place in the Gulf Coast over the next few months.

Hijra House and The Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy are partnering with the Center for Social Inclusion, 350.org, Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Gulf Coast Regional Collaborative and Mississippi Clean Energy Advisory to offer two days of skills training, analysis building, strategy development and networking around how to transition MS toward sustainable economies using the Clean Power Plan and green job opportunities. This two day training  will be held at  St. Rose de Lima Center (301 S. Necaise Ave., Bay St. Louis, MS- September 16 & 17) and is for regional residents and organizational/church/group leaders.  Lunch, Childcare is provided! Limited travel support available.

Friday, Sept. 16th- Communicating Climate Change & Just Transition.  This communications skills training will offer participants training on 1) understanding the connection between current justice issues and the climate crisis, 2) strengthening event success through new/social media (if you think you know, you only know the half-of it!), 3) building your organization's relationship and power with local, regional and national print media, and 4) connecting the amazing talent in your community through messaging created by the community.

Saturday, Sept. 17th- Just Transition and Mississippi's Clean Power Plan. This assembly session will provide space for community members to 1) Learn about Mississippi's responsibilities around the Federal Clean Power Plan and how the communities can engage, 2) Discuss opportunities for small businesses engage in green/ renewable energy job creation and 3) develop a community-rooted vision for Just Transition toward sustainable communities!
