PKIX Error while compiling sample project downloaded by typesafe activator

I am getting below error while building play-java-intro application.

[error] Server access Error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target url=https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/typesafe/play/sbt-run-support_2.10/2.4.2/sbt-run-support_2.10-2.4.2.pom

I do have addded proxy settings and PROXY_HOST environment variables. Please suggest any solution for this.
