Translated Play default messages

Play has defaults messages for the "standard" validation errors in https://github.com/playframework/playframework/blob/master/framework/src/play/src/main/resources/messages.default
It would seem like every website that wishes to use more than English will need to translate these. I realize it's only a handful of phrases, but it seems silly to re-translate them for every project.
Does anyone have a set of translations they could share?
Is there a way to include a base set of translated messages with Play that would get intelligently merged with anything user provided? (i.e. use whatever the user provided in their project first, then fall back on default translated, then fall back on default English)
