freebsd passenger gem compilation static module for nginx fails

Hi,
for about two months now, may be even longer, I can't install the static modules of the passenger gem anymore on freebsd.
I am currently trying to compile Version 5.0.28 of passenger in
/usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/2.1/gems/passenger-5.0.28/build
via
rake nginx
Compilation works well, but installation fails with
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldl
c++: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
rake aborted!
Please, if anyone has a clue, I'd appreciate your help.
