I am always getting location timeout inside premises. I am connected with WI-FI so  navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPositionis shuold return me the geolocation based on IP address but its not returning WLAN GeoLocation on Blackberry playbook. also I didn't find any setting on playbook to set Geolocation preference.

Any idea?

Hey all,

There doesn't seem to be a way of manually setting WLAN geolocation. It only uses it under these conditions:
  • Requires the device to be provisioned with this service
  • Requires WLAN connection point be registered with RIM's Geolocation service
  • Less accurate than standalone GPS but must faster to acquire a GPS position
And uses it as a secondary after GPS:
Note: The Tablet OS will decide to use standalone GPS  coordinates if they are available, and then WLAN as a second choice.

As for the timeouts, it might be the fact that sometimes the playbook gps takes about 2-5 minutes to return a result:

I'm not sure if there's a solution on phonegap's side for this but I have created a sanity test that should return a result once it gets it (i.e., shouldn't time out):

Let me know if you all are able to get a result or not.
