Keep screen on

I tried using WAKE_LOCK, but that doesn't work.

How do I keep the application running for more than 30 seconds? On both, Android, and iPhone?

With Wake_Lock, the application keeps running, but the screen goes blank anyway. That's not what I want.
I want the screen to stay on.
