FileAPI.getInfo never returning to callback

I've been debugging some file upload issues that I am testing via Capybara & RSpec.

I've determined the issue to be that the call to FileAPI.getInfo(file, fn) isn't returning to the callback function.

If I pass a string, I get an immediate error response. I was originally trying with a 200kb file, but also tried with a 10kb file and still got no response. Are there any known defects related to these systems?
