Hi all,

Last month, I sent a message to this list to explain that I would have
enough time to do the Layout design of next 2 issues of PG Magazine. I
wanted to focus on the content and was looking for someone to help us
with the graphic design, which consist in desktop publishing using Scribus.

For more details about this, please read :
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/pgmag/oGASOqv41p0

After several weeks of searching a solution, I am happy to announce two :

1- I've found a professional designer who's ok to help us at a fair
price. His name's Cédric Gémy and he is an active member of the Scribus
community.

2- SPI inc. and PostgreSQL Europe, two non-profit organizations of the
PostgreSQL community, will pay for this professionnal designer.

Hopefully, this will allow us to release two issues this year : one in
April just before PGcon and another in October.

Note that this help is temporary. I have good hopes that :

a/ We will eventually find a "scribus guy" in the PostgreSQL community.
Or at least that next year, I will be able to train someone to replace me.

b/ If we can release two high quality issues this year, with great
content and a nice layout, I am convinced that we will be to build a
sustainable economic model for this magazine. Maybe with advertisement,
maybe with reader subscriptions, maybe with on line micro-payments, ...
It may not be clear for now, but thanks to SPI and PGEU we have 1 years
to think about it !

Of course, any comment on this is more than welcome. Launching a print
media in 2012 is still a weird idea and I believe we need to experiment
and try think outside of box.
