Hello,

Currently I'm evaluating Pentaho 8.0 CE and tried to install a new language pack via market place. However, no plugins are available. I suspected it was a proxy issue and then tried to change satrt-pentaho.bat file to include http proxy details with -Dhttp.proxyHost, -Dhttp.proxyPort, -Dhttp.proxyHost, -Dhttps.proxyHost, -Dhttps.proxyPort,  -Dhttp.proxyUser= and -Dhttp.proxyPassword flags.

Despite all these efforts, I still cannot get any result in my Marketplace. Is there any other alternative to make Marketplace work ?

Hard to diagnose - IIRC there’s a flag that turns on debugging on httpcomms or so and you should be able to get some more debug info.

I remember in the past also trying to use those kinds of flags on wget / curl to try to make sure the arguments are right....

Hello Pedro,

Do you have any clue about which file is this one ? I've tried starting Pentaho Server using the start-pentaho-debug batch file and changing the log level in the tomcat folder, but had no luck trying to getting httpcoms traces.

Hey Pedro, thanks for the directions!

I managed to trace the http connections. In the log I get something like this:

2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.headers] http-outgoing-5 << HTTP/1.1 407 authenticationrequired
2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.headers] http-outgoing-5 << Via: 1.1 192.168.63.3 (McAfee Web Gateway 7.7.2.8.0.25114)
2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.headers] http-outgoing-5 << Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2018 17:22:48 GMT

2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.headers] http-outgoing-5 << Proxy-Authenticate: Basic realm="McAfee Web Gateway"
2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.impl.execchain.MainClientExec] Connection can be kept alive indefinitely
2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.impl.auth.HttpAuthenticator] Authentication required
2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.impl.auth.HttpAuthenticator] cache.trt:3128 requested authentication

2018-02-27 14:22:44,868 DEBUG [org.apache.http.impl.auth.HttpAuthenticator] Authentication failed

In the http client log I could not see any information about my credentials being passed on. Then, I decided to use WireShark and there I see that the request to http://marketplace.pentaho.com/marketplace-plugins.xml has a Proxy-Authorization header that is similar to this:

Proxy-Authorization: Basic VFJUTUdcb3RtYXJtcDpCb3JhMjAxOCE=
   Credentials: <domain>\<user_name>:<password>

I noted that my credentials are correct (I'm using my Windows credentials). Despite this, The response I get is 407 authtentication required back in the response.

Any clues ?
