peerJS server installation for nubs

hello everybody.

I'm really a nub in the "web" developing area and i bag your pardon for questions that seems to be stupid ... but ....

following the "how to" on the github page:https://github.com/peers/peerjs-server

i managed to install the peerj server (i suppose) with:

npm install peer

but after the installation process (that seems have put the files in ~/node_modules/peer/)

i cannot run the command:

peerjs --port 9000 --key peerjs

comando non trovato (command not found) .....

also going inside the bin folder:
cd ~/node_modules/peer/bin/

and running the command form relative path:
./peerjs --port 9000 --key peerjs

gives me that error:
/usr/bin/env: node: File o directory non esistente
