We have the following Web Developer opening in Portland, OR.  This is all Rails work. (Their legacy stuff is in PHP - BlueHawk).  Rails is on the backend and Backbone.js on the front-end. 

Work is to be 100% onsite and personal interviews are mandatory.

Web Developer

Position Type: Contractor

Length: 4-5 month contractor, possible extension

 

 

Web Developer with a great attitude who can be a team player with the experience and skill set to immediately contribute on projects involving custom CRM, social media and mobile application development.

 

The successful candidate will join a high performing agile development team focused on developing, enhancing, and supporting complex applications with HTML5/Backbone JS/JavaScript/jQuery on the front-end and Rails 4 and PHP5/Zend Framework on the back-end. Candidate should have strong knowledge of Rails 4 and PHP5 with experience in large frameworks. Understanding of and creating and using a RESTful API and knowledge of security best practices is a plus. Experience performance-tuning existing code to increase performance and decrease resource utilization is a plus.

 

Candidate will participate in development meetings with other team members, develop and deliver plans and associated estimates for software solutions and track and provide feedback for your work. You will be working in an environment where high performance, high quality and attention to detail are expected.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for software development and documentation
  • Responsible for setting work cadence and ensuring tight deadlines are met and exceeded
  • Responsible for creating unit-tests as required

 

Qualifications

  • Terrific attitude and enthusiastic demeanor
  • 3-5+ yrs hands-on Rails/PHP development experience
  • Ability to prioritize own work, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of data structures and OO design patterns
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or combination of work experience and education

 

Pluses would include:

  • Performance tuning existing code
  • Interacting with and/or creating a RESTful API
  • Mac OS X familiarity
