Hello all! I've been exploring Partiview and Digital Universe as a
means of generating concepts and content for my art works, of which I
am creating while at Columbia College Chicago's Interdisciplinary Arts
and Media MFA program. Recently I've been working a lot with Max/MSP
(
www.cycling74.com) and to a degree EyeCon (
eyecon.palindrome.de) to
create interactive experiences of the night sky. (See examples at
http://nicholassagan.wordpress.com, under projects and
www.nicholassagan.com)
I would love for there to be a way to get Partiview to accept OSC data
(OpenSoundControl.org) or even some form of USB/firewire data input
(even Arduino possibly). I saw the feed button that doesn't do
anything (at least in my version) and was wondering if there is a way
for that to be the port that accepts external input. What other
methods would Partiview be able to accept input other than mouse-
clicking?
Working in astronomy has been a hobby for much of my life and another
opportunity to bridge it into a professional practice is really
interesting. This project especially is something that Mark
Paternostro at the Adler and I have been discussing in terms of
developing an interactive exhibit so I hope that there is some way we
can at least begin a conversation about the capabilities of Digital
Universe and Partiview for more aesthetically driven ends!
If anyone can point me in the right direction or at least be willing
to talk a little more about this please let me know!
Thanks!
