I've searched panaoramio and looked on google earth but I cannot work out how we get the information that reads

I've only just joined panoramio and I'm eager to see my accepted images pop up on google earth

The info is gathered by users just like me and you who checked Google Earth for new pictures and then reported them here.

Usually it takes 1-4 weeks for your photos to appear in GE after being accepted. So you just have to a little patient. Also, because of the popularity algorithm, new pictures will appear in GE at a lower altitude so you will have to zoom many times until you can see them.

Hi, I posted a couple of pics a couple of days ago.  The squares have now appeared on GE (in the correct locations) but the photos are not mine!!  Totally bizarre.

2.1 is the relevant paragraph.  3 years ago this whole process only took about a week.  I was just wondering why it takes so much longer now (up to 2 months as stated in the FAQ).  Also, 3 years ago, all the approved photos were uploaded to the GE Pano Layer at the same time.  Apparently this is not true, presently.  Curious as to the reasons for these differences.  The FAQs don't deal with reasons.

I've noticed at least one photo of mine that was added before the one I mentioned above has not appeared on GE, so yes, not all are brought into GE at teh same time. This has happened before to me, and I've learned to jsut live with it. It'll get there eventually.

Three years ago, starting 20th september 2009, Panoramio moved to Google servers. At that moment it took about a month to review the photos and two months or more to get them in GE! in total three months minimum! From there on the reviewing system changed gradually to what it is now. The photos are sent to the reviewers in batches. This means that one photo can be reviewed sooner as the other. I uploaded many photos this week, most of them were reviewed together, but some of them had to wait because they were with an other reviewer. All of them were reviewed within 24 hours, some re - reviewed on request 24 hours later. Panoramio and GE try to get the photos on GE on the temporary layer within 24 hours, but this is not a commitment. Last month it took some time longer. I know there is some work done in the background, so that will be the reason of a slight delay. The FAQ is made by moderators, RoarX has put much time in this, and other moderators approved of the contents. Don´t forget, we are Panoramio users, this is all done voluntarily!

The team will not always tell us if and why there are delays and we even if we would know, we can not alter the FAQ just for a temporary change.

Again, I'm not complaining...Why is asking a question seen as complaining?  We all volunteer at one thing or another (like posting photos to Pano ;-)), no problem with what's being done.  I merely stated that the FAQ doesn't give reasons and I was wondering why it is now LONGER than it was in 2010.  In 2010 it was 2-3 weeks typical for review and posting in the Pano GE Layer.  Maybe it was just a particularly good year for Pano/GE ;-)  Don't shoot, I volunteer, too.
