Is PageSpeed still checking for Image Dimensions?

Hi,

I have noticed that PageSpeed no longer seems to be checking for Image Dimensions? Can anyone else confirm this?

Pages load faster and content doesn't have to re-organize when an inline image is loaded when they're specified so why not?

So, when I use PageSpeed insights, the test no longer seems to be performed. I am a bit puzzled and was hoping someone else could replicate.

Test with a different site like: https://gtmetrix.com/ or https://www.webpagetest.org/ to see if you have a page with missing dimensions.

come up in Gtmetrix but not in Page Speed or WebPageTest.

Bizarly, GTmetrix gives a different google page speed results. Not sure whats going on there.

I believe the image-dimensions check was removed from PSI sometime back but I don't know why.  Possibly because following the advice and inserting the image dimensions can distort images with CSS that constrains one of the dimensions and not the other, and it was deemed not worth the risk to suggest that.

It's possible, other tools are using the old open-source plugin code that did have that check.
