Hi everyone,
There have been intense development weeks within the developers team of PageOneX. We have a parallel email list to deal with technical stuff, but I though it was interesting for you to know where we are at and what we are planning to do.

All these changes are not yet in the heroku version: http://pageonextester6.herokuapp.com/ but they will be soon in the online beta version at pageonex.com
Join us in defining which things we want to do next! What is the next thing you need from PageOneX? Once we arrive to a stable version, I am planning to make an online meeting with all the people interested.

Si quieres, puedes también escribir en español. ¡Lo leemos todo!

margin_between_images-2

Multiple area selection
The new version allows infinite rectangles. until now it was only possible to draw 2 rectangles per image! I wrote a post about it with an example.

New amazing features (from developers list):

Local storage of images
Rahul was working on issue #76. Now PageOneX downloads and stores the scraped images locally. "Added a variable in config/initializers/application.rb that controls whether you save images locally or not, so I'm hoping to preserve heroku compatibility."
It caused other bug #112 Newspapers show in the wrong row in display view.

Embedded image permalink
Possible to export the data
Ed was working on the export features. Now it supports json and ods. More info and discussion #53

Added links to original images and newspapers 817d1ad
Coding and display view have links to the original online newspapers and to the original source of the image.
Coding: There is a link to the original image and to the newspaper.
Display: the names of the newspapers have links. Not sure yet about this behavior.

To Do
Closes issues From Alpha to Beta 1. We are almost there!

best,
p
