Migrating a widget to OZP

I'm trying to migrate an OWF widget to OZP.  I'm finding that while migrating the communication piece is very easy, I'm having trouble with a few other things.

1. How do you get/set user preferences in OZP (dimensions of the widget, widget choices, etc)?

2. How do you track widget IDs in OZP? (replacing the Eventing API getWidgetID())

3. Is there a way to track which user updated a reference if there are multiple widgets that could update that same reference?

Can anyone help me with this?
