OZP: is ability to create a background widget gone or just not yet implemented?

OWF had the ability to create a background widget.  This was a great concept when you needed a glue-ware type widget.

I was wondering if this concept has permanently gone away and perhaps replaced with a newer style solution, or if this concept will be implemented in the in the future.    If there is a more modern solution for this concept, just let me know.

In looking at OWF, I see that this concept of a 'background' widget needed to be checked for though out the OWF javascript.

At this particular time there is no concept of a background widget in OZP and is not on the current list of future requirements.  However requirements are always being re-evaluated so please put a GitHub ticket to request the feature.

Planned, but not fully implemented.  The OZP APIs (data.api, system.api, etc) are effectively "background widgets", but the registration of those names and wrapping as non-windowed processes hasn't been generalized.

It's on Tensor Wrench's roadmap, though at least 6+ months out.  If anyone is interested in working on it sooner, I'd be happy to talk through how to do it.
