OWF is in its third month of a 6 month refactoring effort.  We plan to put out alpha releases every two weeks.

We’ve completed our fifth sprint.  Source code is available via GitHub or a distribution bundle is available via a link on the Platform page at https://www.owfgoss.org/platform.html.   The new product now looks and acts more familiar with real persistence and OWF 7 look and feel, though the product still has very limited functionality.  Users can create and traverse through dashboards, but cannot yet launch widgets.

In this release we added the following features:

•         Embedded Derby database persists dashboards across runs.

•         Configurable persistence can work with any SQL database.

•         User login using x509 certificates or username and password.

•         Management of dashboards (editing, deleting, and reordering)

•         OWF.Eventing widget API

•         OWF7 toolbar and styling

A notable but less visible accomplishment this sprint was the proof-of-concept MongoDB persistence bundle.  This proved that OWF’s persistence layer is generic enough that users can write their own persistence implementation for things like cloud databases and drop it into OWF using the new OSGI architecture.  Note, that this is a proof-of-concept, and OWF does not officially support MongoDB.

The download package includes a README.md which details how to run the software and how to see the new features.
